IMPROVING AHMEDNAGAR DISTRICT SCHOOLS
When you have an ongoing program for over a decade it’s easy to rest on the project as it is. We give education, tutoring, free medical care, breakfast, and lunch. Isn’t that enough? The question we ask ourselves is: is there something else we can do to make the project better at improving the children’s lives. Especially as technology improves over time the answer is almost always yes.
One school in the most severe drought area had their well water quality get much worse. They discussed this in person with Wayne on a visit in August. Not acceptable for school children to drink marginal water. However, in a fairly rural area, the buying options for high-quality reverse osmosis ultraviolet high flow water filters are very limited if they have any at all. In comes technology. Wayne found great water filter highly rated on Amazon.in and figured out a way to have it delivered to an address on its standard delivery route. You can see the photo of it installed with plumbing at the school.
Why stop there? Another even more rural school we help had been asking for a high volume printer for school work. We had installed an overhead projector in the school and the teachers wanted to print homework and classwork assignments right off the projector with a wireless printer. Why not Amazon.in again? Wayne found an HP printer with 4 ink cartridges highly rated for above 5,000 prints a month. Both were delivered within four days and we brought them by car to the different schools with other school supplies and water bottles they needed. The second school with the printer is 1 ½ hour away from any town by car; 2 ½ hours by bus.
